FUDGE-TASTIC

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is the food! Especially the endless conglomeration of sweets that maybe we shouldn't eat, but how can we not!? Personally, I'm a die hard chocolate fan, and I'm quite picky when it comes to fudge. My mama's got it right with this recipe!

Introducing...

The Decidedly Most Delicious Rich Chocolate Fudge
also known as: Mormon Fudge

You will need:

2 tall cans of evaporated milk
2 sticks of butter

9 cups of sugar
1 tsp of salt

2 jars of marshmallow fluff
2 large milk chocolate bars
12 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tbsp of vanilla

Directions:

Heat the evaporated milk and butter together in a large saucepan until the butter melts.
Add the sugar and salt, and bring to a boil.
Cook 13-14 minutes, boiling hard and stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Add the marshmallow fluff, chocolate bars, chocolate chips, and vanilla.
Mix together with wooden spoon.
Beat with an electric mixer until blended.
Pour onto cookie sheet, or cake pan lined with wax paper.
Allow to harden in the refrigerator.

*makes about 1 serving (according to my dad) But really, approximately 30 servings of 2 pieces each.

It is so so good! I've yet to try a different recipe I like more. Let me know what you think! I plan on posting more holiday recipes during the delectable month of December.

SHOOTING SHENANIGANS

he's not a lover of being photographed... haha
we pride ourselves on our fashion choices.
empire state of mind
please excuse my dirty fingers...
Ammon & his "Sasha"
I am timidly planning a trip to Salt Lake City, UT and Phoenix, AZ for next May to visit some friends. I really want to fly to SLC, and then road trip with my friend Kelsey to see our friend Kirsten down in AZ. However, my dear sweet husband thinks that we'll be kidnapped and raped if there isn't a man in the car with us! So we've made a compromise of sorts: I can proceed with my plan if I buy a firearm and obtain a concealed carry permit. It seems only fitting that we spent this foggy Saturday practicing and improving my skills!
I wanted to practice with a smaller handgun vs. Zach's shotgun or Ammon's AR-15, so I shot Zach's Springfield XD. It's really fun! I'm not that great yet, especially in comparison to my "Master Marksman" husband, but I'm confident I could take out a bad guy's kneecaps if necessary. Or at least hit that general area. Maybe an accidental crotch shot. Oops.
I could not believe the fog in the forest. Behind our car was a huge drop off, but you couldn't tell due to the white wall! It was also super cold, and my camo jacket wasn't cutting it.
Oh and those killer nails? They suck. I attempted to be girly last Saturday, and it was possibly the worst decision ever. I couldn't type my essays for school, count money at work, or play the piano. Even trying to put on makeup was a nigh impossible task. I finally was completely fed up when trying to do my homework tonight that I just clipped them all. They look stupid now, but oh well. At least I can live my life in happiness and ease!

RECIPE FOR INEXPENSIVE R&R

What do you do when your husband is completely worn out from work, and desperately needs to relax?? Turn your bedroom into an island paradise of course!

You will need:
$10 tropical scene shower curtain (available at Walmart)
white Christmas lights
a pineapple (doubles as decor & food!)
dollar store pina colada glasses
leis
cute drink umbrellas
sexy bikini top
a grass skirt
coconut creme pie
hawaiian pizza
pina colada drink mix

Bonus:
the newest edition of your husband's favorite video game. in my case, Call of Duty Ghosts

Instructions:
Hang your awesome shower curtain so it's covering your window, making sure your draperies are in front. {FUN FACT: right after we were married we actually bought this same shower curtain for our bathroom! We've since thrown it away, but luckily Walmart still carries it.} Voila! Your drab view of a fence is no transformed into a picturesque beach setting. String the lights around the window from for added mood lighting.
Take time to wrap the video game up, because who doesn't love unwrapping presents?!
Write an adorable poem on your love note board such as:

Here's to a weekend honoring you
and all of the wonderful, hard work you do!
You're smart & friendly, most handsome by far
it's safe to say you're my shining star!
I love you forever & ever, not maybe
I'll always be happy to be your sweet baby.
Now come & kiss me, and make great haste,
for it's about time we both got LEI'd!!

See what I did there? ;)
Mix up the pina coladas and pour them into your perfect glasses. Finish them with a strategically placed drink umbrella.
Make sure the pizza is visible and smells fabulous.
Pretty yourself up and make a flower crown with your lei. Put on the sexy bikini and grass skirt. Stand around like that awkwardly while you wait 10 minutes for him to finally come home.

Dayuummm Pierre! Yous lookin' fly
We're ravenous when it comes to pie
Annnnd this is what the rest of the weekend looked like. Jk. But seriously... Haha
Our magical little paradise :)
Cheesy? Always. Delicious? You bet! The perfect way to relax after a tough week? Absolutely.

WHITE PASS & YAKIMA

I crave adventure, and love spontaneity.
If we're lying around watching a movie, or doing anything really, and you ask me get out of the house and do something, 9.5/10 times I'm out the door so quick my hair is disheveled (wait, when isn't it?) and my socks are mismatched.
When my grandparents invited Zach and I over for a weekend, of course I couldn't resist! They live in a city called Yakima in Eastern Washington (the ugly side haha). But as ugly as the dirt and tumbleweed laden east side is, the drive there is phenomenal.

We spent the weekend laughing with the silliest, sweetest couple ever, eating puppy chow 'til our stomachs protested, and playing with the most adorable golden retriever you've ever seen. Have we mentioned we want a puppy sooo badly??

But wherever we're headed, adventures are always best with this handsome man by my side
